Heritage Jacket

Description

The Heritage Jacket
Handmade from Full-Grain Leather | Designed in Portland, Oregon

A jacket with backbone—and a story to tell.

The Heritage Jacket is a rugged outer layer built from full-grain leather and handmade with precision. Designed in our Portland studio, this piece carries the Orox tradition of durable craftsmanship and clean, functional design into every stitch.

At first wear, you'll notice the structure—the feel of true, uncorrected leather with all its natural character intact. But give it a day. The fit softens, the leather begins to mold to you, and what started as sturdy becomes second skin. This is a jacket that doesn’t just wear in—it wears better.

A classic, no-frills cut, built with purposeful details and a weight that means business. It’s equally at home layered over a button-up or thrown over a T-shirt over a coffee run.

These Jackets are a limited batch, once we finish our stock, the new ones will be a new style.

Handcrafted in Mexico by artisans we know and trust.

Materials

Vegetable Tanned Cow Hide Body.
Satin Lining

Care Instructions:
◼ Keep it dry: Moisture is no friend to cow hide. If your jacket gets damp, gently dab with a dry cloth and allow it to air out naturally; no heaters, no hairdryers, no sun exposure.

◼ Store it away: Hang it on a hanger, in a cool, dry wardrobe away from direct sunlight or dramatic temperature changes. Check for damp in the colder months.

◼ Dust occasionally: A light shake or soft brush every now and then (about every two months) keeps it looking fresh and prevents dust settling deep into the fibers.

◼ Handle with care: If there’s a spill, keep it surface-level. Dab away excess liquid, then carefully wipe the outer fibers with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid soaking through to the base.

◼ Let it breathe: Leather’s a living material. Avoid sealing it in plastic or storing it in damp spaces; a breathable cotton cover is ideal if you’re tucking it away long term.

Got you. Here’s a review you can drop on Orox’s site, Google, or Reddit — reads real, not like marketing copy: --- 5 Stars — The Depeche Mode Jacket My Wife Was Right About I’m 55, live in Portland, and just bought the Orox Heritage Jacket today. I went in looking for a Perfecto after 30+ years of wanting one. My wife said “get something more Depeche Mode.” She was right. First impressions: This is handmade, full-grain veg-tan cowhide from a 4-generation PDX studio. You feel it immediately. Structured but not stiff. Heavy enough to mean business, clean enough to wear to dinner. Soft black, not glossy. Shirt collar, snap front, no biker cosplay. It’s a leather trucker with Oregon DNA. Fit at 55: I’m 6’, athletic build. Size L fits perfect — slim through the body, hits at the hip, shoulders are right. Doesn’t make me look like I’m trying to be 25. Makes me look like I’ve had taste since 1990 and never stopped. Wore it home on the MAX and felt like I owned it for years. Break-in: Orox says “give it a day” and they mean it. An hour in and the leather already started molding. This isn’t a jacket you suffer through for 6 months. It meets you halfway. PDX test: Handles light rain, wind off the river, and looks intentional at a bar. Pairs with jeans, boots, black tee, or a button-up. Zero trend baggage. This will look better in 10 years. Price: $680. Worth every dollar. You’re paying for 4 generations of craft, Portland design, and leather that’ll outlive me. Cheaper than therapy for a midlife crisis. Verdict: If you’re over 40 and think you need a Perfecto, try this first. If your partner says “don’t get the biker jacket,” listen. I did, and I won. This is heritage, not nostalgia. Already planning to wear it to San Francisco next month. --- Shorter version if you need one for Google: 5 Stars — Best Jacket I’ve Owned Orox Heritage Jacket, bought today in Portland. Handmade veg-tan cowhide, perfect fit, soft black color. Not biker. Breaks in fast, looks better already. Wife approved. If you’re 40+ and want leather without the midlife crisis vibe, this is it. $680 well spent.

Love the jacket! The leather feels and looks great and I can’t wait to see what it looks like after 100 more wears, I can tell it’s going to patina nicely. I can’t believe they were able to make such a nice jacket for such a great price, I had been looking for a pleated type 1 or 2 leather jacket for a while before finding out that a brand that I already love is making one and knocking it out of the park. Have always loved my leather goods from Orox; I have an apron that lives as my shop apron - and has been for the last 8 years or so - as well as some other great pieces from them. So, I’m really happy to have another great piece in the arsenal from them and really happy that they’ve dipped their toes into making awesome leather jackets!

Fantastic quality and fit!!

Beautiful jacket! It needs some break in time; especially the button holes and my old hands make it a challenge getting the jacket closed up. I couldn't be more impressed with the craftsmanship you all put into your work!! Stephanie is using the bucket bag every day and loves it too.
